Aomori's New Brewery, Tsugaru Brewing, Launches New Series "Tsugaru no Megumi" Using Local Wheat

Tsugaru Brewing Company, LLC (Tsugaru City, Aomori Prefecture - Representative Chris Heinze) will begin accepting orders for the first product in its new series "Tsugaru no Megumi," made with wheat from Tsugaru City, Aomori Prefecture, starting at 2:00 PM on July 6, 2026 (Mon).

Background

Tsugaru Brewing is a new craft beer brewery in Aomori, established in July 2025 by Chris Heinze, who has over 15 years of craft beer experience, and Ryota Shiokoshi, a native of Hirauchi Town, Aomori Prefecture.

Their own brewed beer was completed at the end of May 2026 and just began shipping in June.

The establishment was supported by 328 individuals through crowdfunding, raising 8.32 million yen.

Two Announcements

(1) Launch of New Series "Tsugaru no Megumi" - Order Start Dates: Weizen July 6 / Wit July 13

We will begin accepting orders for the new series "Tsugaru no Megumi," made with wheat from Tsugaru City, Aomori Prefecture. Tsugaru Brewing aims to increase the proportion of local grains in its raw materials to 30% annually, and this series embodies that challenge.

Tsugaru no Megumi Weizen (Shipping starts July 9 / Alcohol content 5.0% / Uses 14% local wheat)

A representative wheat beer originating from Germany. It has a fruity and subtly spicy flavor derived from the yeast, making it easy to drink even for those who are not usually fond of beer. This is the style that awakened Chris and Ryota to craft beer, and they rediscovered it as the perfect way to utilize local wheat. This is the first step in their challenge to become the best Weizen in Japan.

Tsugaru no Megumi Wit (Shipping starts July 16 / Alcohol content 5.0% / Uses 27% local wheat)

A representative wheat beer from Belgium. It uses a generous amount of unmalted wheat to express a smooth mouthfeel and distinctive aroma. While spices are commonly used in this style, we have deliberately omitted them, drawing out the flavor solely through yeast management.

For business partners within Aomori Prefecture, we will provide advance notice starting at 2:00 PM the day before the release.

Additionally, we plan to release Tsugaru Brewing's first standard product line by the end of this month.

(2) Taproom Reopening - July 18 (Sat) 3:00 PM - 9:00 PM

The taproom, which has been closed for preparations since the end of February 2026, will reopen on July 18 (Sat).

You can enjoy our freshly brewed beer directly at the brewery.

Open every third Saturday of the month from 3:00 PM.

Scheduled to be open on July 18, August 15, September 19, and October 17. Bringing in snacks and other food is welcome.

Future Development

Tsugaru Brewing aims to expand its network of business partners within Aomori Prefecture to 100 (currently 20 as of 2026) and increase the proportion of locally sourced grains used to 30% annually.

We will continue to create beer rooted in the sustainable land of Aomori, utilizing regional resources.
