Setouchi City Museum of Art in Okayama Prefecture is pleased to announce the upcoming special exhibition 'Hiroaki Komatsumoto: Mobiles of Light and Shadow, the Sea Ascends, the Sky Falls,' to be held from July 10, 2026 (Friday) to September 27, 2026 (Sunday), as detailed below.

Exhibition Overview

This exhibition presents large-scale spatial art installations that explore the relationship between natural phenomena and human beings. Highlights include 'Sea Mobile,' a massive kinetic sculpture that sways in response to light and wind, and 'Song of Rain,' where over 400 motors generate ripple-like patterns reminiscent of puddles after rainfall. By experiencing the profound beauty and cyclical nature of familiar elements—sea, sky, and rain—visitors are invited to expand their imagination about their place in the world and the future. This exhibition is ideal for families during the summer vacation.
