Tanetoshizuku Library is currently supported by 51 bookshelves provided by 'One-box Bookshelf Supporters.'

Located a two-minute walk from Hanshin Nishinomiya Station in Nishinomiya, Hyogo Prefecture, the library serves as a space for children up to their teens. It is open on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. From 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM, it operates as 'Kotoba no Niwa' (Garden of Words) for children from single-parent families who are out of school, and from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM (until 5:00 PM for elementary students), it serves as an 'After-school Space' where children can spend their time freely.

A key feature of Tanetoshizuku Library is its function as a library. Upon entering, visitors are greeted by numerous bookshelves filled with books, all provided by the 'One-box Bookshelf Supporters.'

The NPO Child Support Station Tanetoshizuku was established in 2022. Putting 'children' at the core of their support has been the organization's main focus. Since opening the library in the summer of 2023, it has welcomed all children—not just those from single-parent households—aiming to be a place where every child is respected and can enjoy their childhood.

While there were initial concerns about whether adults might dominate the space, 51 supporters now cheer on the children through continuous donations and book provisions. For this campaign, the organization is seeking 9 new supporters. Those who register during the campaign will be entitled to plan events at the library on Sundays or Mondays.

As the library marks its 3rd anniversary this summer, it plans to open its doors to the public through an 'Open Day' to encourage more community interaction.

Tanetoshizuku Library Open Day Date: June 7, 2026 (Sun) Time: 10:00-14:00 (Book club session from 11:00-12:00) Contact: [email protected]
