"Wherever there is a life to save, we will go." With this motto, AMDA (NPO AMDA), headquartered in Okayama City and chaired by Hiroshi Sato, which conducts humanitarian aid activities worldwide, has dispatched four medical professionals (Chairman Sato (physician), one nurse, and two physicians from AMDA Peru Chapter) to Venezuela following two earthquakes of magnitude 7.2 and 7.5 that struck northwestern Venezuela around 6:00 PM on June 24, 2026 (around 7:00 AM on June 25, Japan time).

AMDA's Medical Aid Activities in the Affected La Guaira State

On July 6 (local time), the AMDA team, consisting of two physicians from the AMDA Peru Chapter who had arrived earlier and one Japanese nurse, conducted medical aid activities in the heavily damaged La Guaira State, in collaboration with "Cruz Azul USM," a medical organization affiliated with the cooperating organization Santa Maria University.

In addition to consultations, the activities included treatment for injuries and provision of medicines. The joint team examined approximately 80 individuals, identifying respiratory symptoms such as upper respiratory infections and asthma, as well as sudden high blood pressure, wound infections, and gastrointestinal symptoms.

On July 7 (local time), Chairman Sato joined the AMDA team. The organization will continue its relief efforts in cooperation with its partner organizations.

Situation in the Affected La Guaira State (Report from the AMDA Team)

Following the earthquakes, severe traffic congestion occurred on the road from Venezuela's capital, Caracas, to the affected areas. However, this has now been resolved, and traffic volume has returned to nearly the same level as before the earthquakes.

Meanwhile, the living conditions of those affected by the earthquakes have changed significantly. Some continue to live in their damaged homes, while others are living in temporary shelters outdoors or in tents. Power outages also persist.

Furthermore, the sanitary conditions remain dire. Due to difficulties in accessing water, handwashing facilities are limited, and the hygiene of toilets has deteriorated. A physician from the AMDA Peru Chapter reported, "Public health risks are increasing."
