The ethical creative collective SHIFT80 will hold a collaborative exhibition titled 'Where Does Your Value Go?' with artist The Mouse Kid at EARTH+GALLERY in Kiba, Tokyo, from June 17 (Wed) to June 21 (Sun), 2026.
This exhibition brings together The Mouse Kid, who uses capitalism as a medium, and SHIFT80, which conveys life from within the Kibera slum in Kenya based on a different logic of value. Together, they explore the questions "What is value?" and "What is the foundation of your values?" from multiple perspectives. An SHIFT80 pop-up store will also be open at the venue during the exhibition period.
About the Exhibition
SHIFT80, which creates works based on fieldwork in the massive Kibera slum in Nairobi, Kenya, collaborates with artist The Mouse Kid.
The Mouse Kid is an artist who treats capitalism as a medium, questioning the very conditions under which value is believed and circulated. His works include gold bars stripped of market value, glowing bubbles that burst, and an "invisible hand" covered in banknotes. The work intervenes within those movements.
SHIFT80 communicates the ways of life within the Kibera slum, which has been considered "valueless" within systems of exploitation, by presenting a different logic of value.
This is the fourth consecutive year SHIFT80 has held an exhibition at EARTH+GALLERY in Kiba, Tokyo.
Participating Artists
The Mouse Kid: An art practice by Kazuaki Hashida, questioning the conditions of value circulation.
SHIFT80: An ethical creative collective with the motto "We are all Earthlings. Share the little you have," addressing social issues through art, design, and fashion.
