Fiscal 2026 Gathering for Parents: Deepening Understanding of Children Who Do Not Attend or Cannot Attend School
As the number of students not attending school continues to rise nationwide, an increasing number of parents are struggling with how their children relate to school, concerns about their future, and how to interact with them at home. At the same time, opportunities for parents to learn about their children’s emotional states and to openly share experiences with others in similar situations remain insufficient.
In response to these challenges, Nagano Prefecture has commissioned NPO Tayouna Manabi Project (Representative Director: Chisato Ikoma), an organization actively supporting non-attending students across Japan, to operate an online event titled 'Gathering for Parents: Deepening Understanding of Children Who Do Not or Cannot Attend School.' The event will be held on August 21 and is aimed at parents of children who do not attend school, helping them deepen their understanding, learn about diverse learning opportunities and safe spaces, and share experiences and concerns with other parents.
