NPO SISTERS, a Tokyo-based organization aiming to eliminate sexual violence, has launched free distribution of its groping prevention handbook, 'You Don't Have to Pretend Nothing Happened,' to schools nationwide. Created with support from over 300 crowdfunding backers and supervised by clinical psychologists, the 24-page A5 handbook provides safety education, bystander advice, and support hotlines. This initiative addresses statistics showing that 1 in 5 women and 1 in 12 men experience groping, with 70% of incidents happening on public transit during commute hours, mostly affecting high schoolers. Junior high schools, high schools, and vocational schools across Japan can apply for either physical booklets or digital PDFs (accessible via QR code or school tablets). Shipments and digital delivery will begin in late June 2026.
