Construction Begins on Grid-Scale Battery Storage Facility in Chikuzen, Fukuoka

Shizen Engineering Inc. and Shizen Energy Inc. are pleased to announce the start of construction for a high-voltage grid-scale battery storage facility in Chikuzen, Fukuoka. Shizen Engineering serves as the EPC contractor, while Shizen Energy acted as the development partner. The project is owned by 'Fukuoka Chikuzen Town Battery Storage LLC,' with investments from Mitsubishi Estate Co., Ltd., Itochu Corporation, and Tokyo Century Corporation. As renewable energy adoption grows, the need for 'adjustment capacity' to stabilize the power grid has become critical due to the intermittent nature of weather-dependent generation. Grid-scale battery storage is expected to provide rapid and flexible adjustment capabilities.
