Komono Town, Mie Prefecture, has signed a partnership agreement concerning "Reuse Activities within Komono Town" with Market Enterprise Inc., the operator of the reuse platform "Oikura," as a new initiative towards forming a circular economy.

Based on this agreement, we will promote the reuse (re-use) of unwanted items within the town, aiming to solve the current issue of usable items being discarded as bulky waste, and to improve residents' awareness of reuse.

Background to the Partnership Agreement

Komono Town's "Komono Town General Waste (Garbage) Disposal Basic Plan" advocates for the promotion of 3Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) and proper disposal. However, cases where usable items are discarded as bulky waste have been observed within the town, leading us to explore new reuse measures.

Meanwhile, Market Enterprise Inc. has set a vision of being an "optimization trading company that realizes a sustainable society" and is actively engaged in SDGs initiatives through public-private partnerships. The needs of both parties, who wish to "aim for the formation of a circular society by promoting reuse activities," have aligned, leading to the realization of this public-private initiative utilizing the reuse platform "Oikura."

About the Reuse Platform "Oikura"

"Oikura" is a reuse platform that allows individuals wishing to sell unwanted items to request a bulk appraisal from affiliated recycling shops nationwide with a single request, enabling them to compare purchase prices collectively.

Easy Bulk Appraisal: With just one request, you can compare prices from multiple purchasing businesses.

Removal from Home Service: Depending on the purchasing business, they may even handle removal from within your home, making it convenient for disposing of large unwanted items.

*Please note that only items that can be reused (resold) are eligible for purchase, so not all items can be accepted.
