The food donation from Hakubaku Co., Ltd. marks its sixth year since the 2021 fiscal year. Over the past five years, the company has donated approximately 37 tons of food items such as somen, udon, barley tea, and rice, timed with school holidays when school meals are unavailable and household food expenses increase. These donations have significantly supported many families, especially single-parent and child-rearing households, by helping sustain their daily meals.
Voices from Families in Need
Rising prices of rice, food, and other daily necessities continue to place financial strain on households. Families receiving support have shared concerns such as, "Without school lunches during summer break, food expenses are a worry," and "I want my children to eat well, but our household budget is tight."
This year’s donation aims to deliver essential food items to families facing these challenges, serving as a collaborative initiative between a local enterprise and a food bank to support children’s nutrition.
Donation Highlights (Partial List) – Last Year’s Donation
Message from Mr. Shigetoshi Nagasawa, Representative Director and President, Hakubaku Co., Ltd.
"I deeply respect Food Bank Yamanashi for being a national pioneer in supporting families facing food insecurity since its establishment in 2008.
Today, within the food industry, many edible products are discarded due to distribution deadlines and logistical issues. Your role in bridging food manufacturers with families in need is profoundly meaningful for any company involved in the food sector.
I sincerely hope that local food manufacturers in Yamanashi deepen their understanding and cooperation, expanding this warm circle of support, and that Food Bank Yamanashi’s activities accelerate even further."
