NPO Terra Renaissance (Chairperson: Mai Yoshida, Location: Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture, hereinafter Terra Renaissance) will conduct a summer fundraising campaign "Hope from Person to Person." from Tuesday, July 7, 2026, to Monday, August 31, 2026, to support the independence of individuals affected by conflict in Asia, Africa, and Ukraine, and those suffering from poverty and left behind by society. We are calling for donations.
In April of this year, Terra Renaissance facilitated a summit in Central Africa, inviting government officials from Uganda, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and the Central African Republic. This resulted in an agreement to cooperate on the return of 500 former child soldiers and the cessation of conflict. This moment marks 25 years of grassroots efforts moving nations. To continue this chain of hope, we are seeking 13.5 million yen this summer.

Target Amount: 13.5 million yen Campaign Period: Tuesday, July 7, 2026 - Monday, August 31, 2026
Celebrating 25 years, the "chain of hope" is becoming a reality.
Since its establishment in 2001, Terra Renaissance has been involved in supporting the independence of over 260,000 people affected by conflict and disasters in 10 countries worldwide, including Asia, Africa, and Ukraine.
For the past 25 years, we have continuously proven on the ground the hope that "people can start over any number of times." The thoughts of our supporters reach the people on the ground through Terra Renaissance, enabling them to become independent and, in turn, support others—we have witnessed such a "chain of hope."
In Asia, people who learned agricultural techniques on land scarred by landmines and unexploded ordnance are now rising up as pillars of support for their entire communities. In Ukraine, four years of support have culminated in the opening of a "Comprehensive Welfare Center," creating a space where isolated elderly individuals and refugees can support each other. In Africa, historic movements are beginning towards the dismantling of the LRA (Lord's Resistance Army) and the end of what is said to be Africa's longest conflict.
This campaign aims to raise funds to continue ending conflicts and supporting the independence of those affected by conflict in Asia, Africa, and Ukraine, without breaking this "chain of hope."
Campaign Goals and Use of Funds (Target Amount: 13.5 million yen)
Donations received will be carefully used as operational funds to end conflicts and restore the independence and dignity of affected individuals.
<Use of Donations>
◆ Towards the return of 500 former child soldiers—A historic peace phase involving cooperation among three countries (Africa)
[Uganda/Congo]
In April 2026, Terra Renaissance hosted an intergovernmental conference in the Central African Republic, inviting government officials from Uganda, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and the Central African Republic. The three countries agreed to strengthen cooperation in the process of returning former child soldiers. This is an extremely unusual process where a Japanese NGO facilitates a diplomatic arena and supports intergovernmental agreements. In the same month, 23 former girl soldiers and children were protected in Bangui and returned to their home countries. We will continue to support efforts to achieve the return of an estimated 500 individuals remaining in armed groups, dismantle the LRA, and end the conflict.
[Karamoja (Uganda)]
Through irrigation support, 150 households (approximately 1,050 people) have achieved stable cultivation and income. We will continue to support the further development of the fish farming business, introduced for the first time in 2025, and the independence of agricultural groups.
[Burundi]
The briquette production business utilizing agricultural waste has become fully operational. We will support the independence of 64 directly supported households and 320 individuals. In 2026, we will also begin supporting Congolese refugees within Burundi.
◆ Reconstruction of livelihoods in areas contaminated with landmines and unexploded ordnance (Asia)
[Cambodia]
We will continue the "Livestock Bank" initiative, which lends livestock such as cattle, goats, pigs, chickens, and ducks to vulnerable households, including landmine victims, and farmers whose income has been cut off due to border conflicts with Thailand. Through their breeding, we will support the diversification of income sources and income improvement.
[Laos]
We will continue unexploded ordnance avoidance education for children. Utilizing the completed beekeeping center, we will support the stable income generation of local residents, including victims of unexploded ordnance.
◆ Building a society without isolation, starting from reconstruction hubs (Ukraine)
Based at the "Comprehensive Welfare Center" opened in March 2026, we will continue to provide meal services and monitoring support to the elderly and needy families. It also serves as a place of employment for war victims, and we will continue activities to "leave no one behind."
Other: In addition to the above, funds will be used for expenses necessary for the maintenance and expansion of Terra Renaissance's activities.

Representative's Comment
Mai Yoshida, Chairperson, NPO Terra Renaissance
Terra Renaissance celebrates its 25th anniversary this year. Pascalina, a former girl soldier who was once abducted by the LRA and deprived of her freedom for many years, has now completed her vocational training, owns her own shop, and is living a life where she can make her own choices.
For 25 years, we have been accumulating hope on the ground, one by one, that "people can start over any number of times." And this April, these accumulated efforts led to the realization of an intergovernmental conference that moved three national governments. Those who receive support then support their peers—this is what we have learned over 25 years: "Hope from Person to Person."
Although sad news continues around the world, it is precisely at times like these that we must not extinguish the flame of hope and, like Pascalina's example, connect your wishes to the local communities.
We sincerely ask for your warm support to continue this journey together.
