The paper art exhibition by Takashi Ohta, known as the 'Paper Magician,' is opening for the first time in Fukushima Prefecture. Please enjoy nostalgic scenes expressed within a 17cm depth!

Takashi Ohta’s artworks evoke a sense of nostalgia, bringing back personal memories for each viewer.
In addition to works capturing life milestones and everyday moments, the exhibition also showcases the step-by-step process of creating paper art.
Alongside a newly unveiled piece themed on Koriyama Station, the actual historical landscapes that inspired the artworks will also be displayed.
Experience the warmth and intricate detail unique to paper, reviving scenes of daily life from decades past. Reflect on the past and enjoy a nostalgic moment that resonates across generations.
Chapter 1 introduces paper artist Takashi Ohta, detailing his background and the reason behind his title as the 'Paper Magician,' alongside representative works.
Chapter 2, 'The Making of Paper Art,' displays the tools and creative process behind Ohta’s artworks.
Chapter 3, 'The World of Paper Art,' presents works categorized by themes such as railways, weddings, Japanese landscapes, the Showa era, and the four seasons. Viewers can immerse themselves in the stories and dramas unfolding within the artworks—people seemingly conversing, cars and trains ready to move, and background scenery capturing a single moment in time.
The newly created piece for this exhibition, 'Koriyama Station TAXI POOL ~A Place of Waiting~,' depicts the streetscape from Koriyama Station, blending scenery from the Reiwa era back to the Showa era.
Alongside this artwork, a video documenting its creation and photographs of Koriyama Station’s surroundings will also be exhibited.

· Artist Profile
【Takashi Ohta】
Graduated from the Department of Fine Arts, College of Art, Nihon University in 1990 (Heisei 2). A paper artist who creates intricate 'paintings' by layering cut paper to achieve a 17cm depth.
From 1995 (Heisei 7) to 2020 (Reiwa 2), he contributed a monthly paper art feature titled 'PAPERMUSEUM' in the automotive magazine 'Car Graphic' for 25 years.
A self-taught 'paper magician' who developed a unique artistic method over decades. Winner of TV Tokyo’s 'TV Champion: Paper Craft King Championship' in 2002 (Heisei 14). Active in exhibitions at department stores and museums, as well as television appearances.
