10x Genomics (Japan entity: 10x Genomics Japan Co., Ltd.), a leading company in single-cell and spatial biology, has announced the next-generation platform for spatial in situ analysis, 'Atera'.

In recent years, the lack of high-quality biological data has become a major challenge in AI-driven drug discovery and biotechnology advancements. 'Atera' makes it possible to analyze the whole transcriptome of up to 800 samples per year at single-cell resolution while preserving the tissue environment. It turns 'large-scale, multi-dimensional spatial omics research,' previously considered technically and cost-prohibitive, into a reality, dramatically accelerating the pace of drug discovery and life science research.

Accordingly, as the first public unveiling of this product in Japan, a hybrid symposium 'World Tour Tokyo - Frontiers of Spatial Analysis Symposium' will be held on Thursday, June 18, 2026. The event will feature the first public display of a mock-up of the Atera instrument in Japan, along with presentations from leading Japanese researchers on the latest findings and clinical applications using the current system (Xenium).

⬛︎ The Next Frontier of Spatial Analysis: Features of Atera

Atera enables research at scales previously deemed 'impossible' through the following innovative features:

Unparalleled Scale: Enables analysis of up to 800 whole transcriptome samples per year, powerfully driving large-scale projects.

Uncompromising Spatial Analysis: Achieves the highest standards in performance, plex number, and throughput simultaneously.

Single-Cell Level Sensitivity: Provides spatial sensitivity equivalent to single-cell analysis, ensuring high data reliability.
