A Networking Space Connecting the Frontlines of Disability Welfare
On May 15, 2026, the Sanpuku Welfare Foundation (Matsuyama City, Ehime) held 'Disability Welfare Exchange Care Lounge Vol.2', aimed at fostering interaction among supporters in the local disability welfare sector.
34 participants from 23 disability welfare facilities in Matsuyama and surrounding areas attended. The group included a wide range of professionals from Type A/B Employment Support, group homes, consultation support, visiting nursing, and employment transition support offices.
Care Lounge was established as a venue where supporters can casually interact across organizational boundaries and share daily challenges. Unlike formal seminars, it features a relaxed atmosphere for frank opinion exchange, which led to lively discussions during this session.
Key topics discussed at the venue included: - Challenges and creative approaches in user support - The importance of regional cooperation - Information sharing regarding facility management - Future trends in the disability welfare system
High Interest in 'Employment Selection Support'
A major focus of this meeting was 'Employment Selection Support', a new service launched in October 2025. Offices already implementing the service and those considering it shared their current status and challenges, followed by a candid discussion on what is expected of supporters under this new system.
Participants provided positive feedback, stating, 'I was able to learn about other offices' perspectives,' and 'I can now take more concrete actions and proposals.'
Expanding Connections Through Socializing
The informal social gathering after the meeting fostered connections across positions and job types, creating opportunities for new collaborations. Care Lounge aims to continue promoting networks that support regional disability welfare. The next meeting is scheduled for July 2026.
