a2network Inc. (Headquarters: Meguro-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Akito Kadota) conducted a demonstration experiment of communication BCP (Business Continuity Plan) in a workation environment utilizing the communication redundancy solution "Skyberry pro®".

In recent years, the importance of BCP has been increasing as a measure against natural disasters and communication failures.

However, simply having communication means does not guarantee their effective use in actual business environments.

Therefore, based on the "phase-free" concept of using solutions for normal times that can also be utilized in emergencies, we conducted a demonstration experiment in a workation environment using the communication redundancy solution "Skyberry pro®". This experiment verified communication quality and business continuity, and identified issues and areas for improvement that became apparent through actual use.

Normal business operations conducted outside the office

From June 25, 2026, for two days, we conducted daily business operations while using Skyberry pro® during a workation held in Hakone Town, Kanagawa Prefecture. This demonstration was conducted based on the "phase-free" concept, which leverages tools used in normal times for emergency situations.

【Main Business Activities】

Web conferences

Customer support and sales activities

Internal training

Document creation and various application procedures

Information sharing via chat tools

Issues identified in communication BCP during the demonstration

During this demonstration, while business operations could be continued by using Skyberry pro®, cases where communication quality varied depending on the location and time of day were also confirmed.

Participants commented, "There were differences in communication conditions depending on the location," and "There were times during web conferences when the communication speed was insufficient."

On the other hand, many opinions were also received, such as, "We were reminded of the necessity of alternative communication methods," and "Communication BCP is not just about 'preparing,' but it is important to 'verify while using it regularly.'"

Through this demonstration, the importance of not only having communication means but also verifying them in actual usage environments for communication BCP was confirmed.

Comment from Akito Kadota, Representative Director of a2network Inc.

In recent years, the risk of communication environments that we have taken for granted suddenly becoming unusable due to natural disasters or communication failures has been increasing. For companies, it is important not to prevent communication failures themselves, but to prepare a system that ensures business operations do not stop in the event of a failure.

In this verification, by actually conducting business operations in a non-standard communication environment, we were able to identify situations affected by communication quality and issues that need improvement.

However, these are important insights gained precisely because we verified them in a real-world environment.

We will continue to improve our services through further demonstrations in various environments and will also work on disseminating information that can be useful for our customers' communication BCP measures.

About Skyberry pro®

"Skyberry pro®" is a communication redundancy solution that leverages the characteristics of an MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operator) to utilize up to five lines, including the radio lines of the three major telecommunications carriers, as well as optical and satellite lines.

In addition to a specification that connects to an alternative line when the primary line is completely cut off, it also offers an optional specification that automatically switches to an alternative line when the communication strength falls below a preset threshold. This enables flexible BCP measures tailored to the customer's usage environment and requirements, and it is widely used for business continuity measures by companies and local governments.

About a2network
