ABEMA, the new future TV, held the first live event 'PRISMation Film Fes. 2026' for its project 'Project PRISMation', which aims to create original anime works together with next-generation creators, on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at United Cinemas Toyosu.

The event featured screenings of 23 masterpiece and talked-about indie anime works on a giant cinema screen. Works included titles from 'Project PRISMation' such as 'Poppin-Play Kitchen', 'Gluttomy', and 'The Horrors Horror Home', as well as notable indie works like 'She and Her Cat' (Makoto Shinkai), 'Fumiko's Confession' (Hiroyasu Ishida), 'My Little Goat' (Tomoki Misato), 'PUPARIA' (Shingo Tamagawa), and 'LUCA' (Ai Nina). Additionally, a special talk session was held with creators including Tomoki Misato (creator of 'PUI PUI Molcar'), Shingo Tamagawa (creator of 'PUPARIA'), and Ai Nina (creator of music videos for YOASOBI, Ado, etc.).

In the talk session, creators, who also work on commercial projects, discussed why they continue to produce indie anime. Shingo Tamagawa stated, 'Indie anime is basically not requested by anyone, so creating it on one's own carries a personal sense of duty,' highlighting the freedom and commitment involved in independent production. Ai Nina remarked, 'LUCA was truly a work for myself, and it gave me a strong answer to how I want to live my life,' reflecting on the importance of indie animation as a medium for self-confrontation. Furthermore, Tomoki Misato highlighted the importance of film festivals as a means for distribution, noting, 'If I hadn't applied to film festivals, I might not have made 'PUI PUI Molcar' and wouldn't be here as a director.'

In the first part of the event, voice actor Kazutomi Yamamoto, who plays P-chan in 'Poppin-Play Kitchen', appeared as a guest and announced that a sequel to 'Poppin-Play Kitchen' is currently in production. Yamamoto expressed his enthusiasm, saying, 'I hope this will lead to even more things.'
