'ABEMA,' the new future of television, announces the free streaming launch of its original drama 'The Law of Vacation' (15 minutes per episode, three times a week), starring Kanna Hashimoto with South Korean actor Jong-hyup Chae, and written, scripted, and directed by manga artist Akiko Higashimura in her first-ever television series. The series will premiere on Monday, July 27, 2026, at 8:00 PM JST. Today, the second key visual has been unveiled.

The story follows protagonist Midori Hoshino (Kanna Hashimoto), exhausted from her hectic daily life, who discovers a 'non-ordinary vacation' at a seaside villa. There, she meets the mysterious caretaker Nishiue (Jong-hyup Chae), falls in love, and gradually reclaims the precious moments of her life in a summer-long 'detox romance.' The series delivers a heartwarming and tear-jerking story that gently unravels the hearts of modern people who live life at full speed, encouraging them to believe that 'life needs a break.'

The newly unveiled key visual features Midori (Kanna Hashimoto), dressed in a yellow striped dress, and caretaker Nishiue (Jong-hyup Chae), standing together against the backdrop of a villa bathed in soft sunlight. Midori appears in a natural, relaxed pose, as if she has just turned around in response to her vacationing friends calling her name. Beside her, Nishiue gazes with a subtly melancholic expression, creating a heart-fluttering 'height difference' that instantly captivates viewers. As suggested by the tagline, 'A summer I’ll never forget,' this romantic image captures both the vibrant days spent with friends at the villa and the bittersweet, fleeting fate unfolding between the two characters within a limited time.

This series marks manga artist Akiko Higashimura’s debut in a continuous television drama, serving as original creator, screenwriter, and director. Delivered in a new viewing format of 15-minute episodes, three times a week (Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays), the drama features a main cast including Kaito Katsuki as Midori’s brother, along with Mimori Yashima, Ako Kano of A-Masso, and Teppei Sakura. At a beautiful villa far from the noise of daily life, each character reveals their true self, joyfully and emotionally coloring an irreplaceable summer.

Her close friends Rinrin (Mimori Yashima), Tsumugi (Ako Kano), and Tetsuro (Teppei Sakura) also gather at the villa, enjoying a fulfilling vacation with Nishiue’s help. As the caretaker quietly watches over their joyful vacation life, a faint shadow of sadness occasionally crosses Nishiue’s eyes.
