Ocean Education Workshops Held for 141 Teachers from 5 Tokyo Municipalities for School Implementation

Under the sponsorship of the Next Generation Value Consortium, Act-Indy Inc., which operates the outing information site 'Iko-yo', conducted a series of five Ocean Education Workshops from March 26 to April 21, 2026. The program targeted approximately 141 teachers from five municipalities: Adachi, Meguro, Nerima, and Shinjuku Wards in Tokyo, and Kawasaki City in Kanagawa Prefecture.

These workshops were part of the 'Uminoko Classroom' project, a marine learning and experience initiative for public elementary schools that the company has been developing since 2022. The primary objective was to create a foundation for continuous marine education in schools. By engaging in local activities such as beachcombing at the shore and visiting fishing ports for auction experiences, teachers were given the opportunity to firsthand feel the allure of the sea.

### About the 'Uminoko Classroom' Project This project aims to create meaningful connections between children and the sea by providing marine learning opportunities in collaboration with schools. Research by the Nippon Foundation indicates a growing detachment of children from the sea. By partnering with administrative and educational bodies, the project seeks to lower the psychological barriers to marine activities, making 'Ocean Learning' a standard choice for regular classes and nature camps.
