Aeon Retail Co., Ltd. South Kanto Company (Branch Manager: Nobuo Matsumoto, operating Aeon stores in Tokyo, Kanagawa, Chiba, and Yamanashi) is promoting community-based management in the environmental sector. Starting Thursday, May 28, the company will sell limited quantities of 'Local My Basket' at 88 stores, including 'Aeon' and 'Aeon Style,' featuring designs based on environmental themes, logos, and mascots from local municipalities. The 'My Basket' is a dedicated shopping basket that customers bring with them, allowing them to take items home without needing to transfer them into plastic bags at checkout. Aeon pioneered the use of these baskets in the retail industry in 2000 as part of its 'bring your own bag' campaign. In 2019, as part of its Environment Month initiatives, the company collaborated with Yokohama City to sell 'Local My Baskets.' Subsequently, the initiative was proposed to Tokyo, Kanagawa, Chiba, and Yamanashi, leading to the current implementation across one metropolis and three prefectures as of 2023, engaging local communities in 'plastic waste reduction' activities. To date, Aeon Retail has sold these baskets in other areas in collaboration with local governments, with a cumulative total of approximately 37,000 units sold by last year. Aeon remains committed to proposing environmentally friendly shopping styles and addressing environmental issues together with local customers. Sales Overview: Sales begin on May 28, 2026, in limited quantities at 88 Aeon and Aeon Style stores in the four regions. There are 5 types available, priced at 362 yen (398.20 yen including tax).
