AGBIOTECH Co., Ltd. (headquartered in Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Takumi Nakanishi; hereinafter "AGBIOTECH") aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and enhance biodiversity through its service that integrates home delivery of agricultural products cultivated via environmentally conscious farming with experiences such as planting and harvesting, all without using pesticides or chemical fertilizers.

To visualize the contributions of our contracted farmers to the global environment, AGBIOTECH has now connected its application "BioApp" with the "Visualization System for Environmental Load Reduction" provided by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (hereinafter "MAFF").

The BioApp has added a new feature that supports farmers in obtaining the "Mieru Label," which visualizes agricultural producers' efforts to reduce environmental impact. This feature enables users to calculate greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and reduction contribution rates throughout crop production and submit reports to MAFF—all within the BioApp—eliminating the need for producers to perform these tasks separately. The system covers 23 crop types, including rice and vegetables (Note 1), with support for multiple crops being a key feature.

Furthermore, the BioApp utilizes GHG emission calculation results obtained from the visualization system (i.e., reduction contributions compared to conventional regional farming practices) to continuously accumulate and display reduction contributions based on the volume of rice and vegetables shipped. This enables visualization of producers' environmental load reduction efforts across production, distribution, and consumption of agricultural products.

1. Background and Objectives

To build a sustainable food system, MAFF has established the "Green Food System Strategy," promoting initiatives to reduce environmental impacts at every stage of the food system—from procurement and production to processing, distribution, and consumption.

The "Mieru Label" quantitatively calculates greenhouse gas emissions and absorption based on cultivation information such as use of chemical fertilizers, chemical pesticides, fossil fuels, and paddy water management. It clearly indicates the contribution rate to emission reductions compared to conventional regional farming using a star rating system, and is promoted by MAFF. This label is expected to help communicate producers' environmental efforts to consumers and make it easier for consumers to choose eco-friendly agricultural products.

AGBIOTECH, under its mission of "Creating Happiness for the Earth and Its People," promotes environmentally conscious agriculture that harnesses natural forces without relying on pesticides or chemical fertilizers. As part of this effort, the company operates "Private Bio Farm (PBF)," a platform that delivers agricultural products grown through environmentally conscious farming directly to consumers, along with planting and harvesting experiences. The BioApp is an application designed to visualize producers' environmental load reduction efforts and contributions.

With the addition of features supporting Mieru Label acquisition and visualizing GHG emission reduction contributions, the BioApp will further support producers' environmental initiatives and contribute to improving their profitability through enhanced product value.

2. Overview of Features

By connecting with MAFF's Visualization System for Environmental Load Reduction, the BioApp enables users to calculate data and complete procedures necessary for obtaining the Mieru Label in one integrated process, while also visualizing the achieved GHG emission reduction contributions within the app.
