The number of members in the 'Midori GX Lab' (Representative: Masanori Edamoto, former Vice Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries), a consortium operated by The Japan Agricultural News (Taito-ku, Tokyo; President: Kashiro Tamiya), has exceeded 2,000. The Midori GX Lab was established in July 2024 to achieve 'sustainable food and agriculture' through the cooperation of diverse entities.

In this third year of activity, the lab will move beyond learning and networking to engage in more practical initiatives to realize sustainable food and agriculture. To implement climate change adaptation, reduction of agricultural burden, and decarbonization efforts, the lab will deepen activities such as field visits to advanced production areas and matching production sites with companies possessing products or services that contribute to solving agricultural challenges.

Anyone, individual or corporate—not just farmers and agricultural organizations like JAs, but also local governments, companies, consumers, students, and researchers—can join the Midori GX Lab. The number of members has reached 2,013 (as of June 2). At the time of its establishment in July 2024, the number of members was 238, and it exceeded 1,000 last May, meaning the number of participants has doubled over the past year.

Currently, the lab is recruiting partner members and supporting members to sustain its activities. They are welcoming companies with products or services that contribute to climate change adaptation, decarbonization, and environmental impact reduction.

Upcoming events include the 'Agriculture J-Credit Consultation Session' on June 30, the 'Challenge Solving & Matching Day' on July 22, and the 'Large-Scale Organic Farming Field Seminar' in late August.
