In the manufacturing industry, the importance of product development starting from user experience is increasing, along with the need to address labor shortages, reduce labor, automate, and add high value. Amidst this trend, technologies that objectively and quantitatively capture sensory values such as 'feel,' 'usability,' and 'pleasant sound,' which have traditionally relied on experience and intuition, and utilize them in manufacturing are attracting attention.
This seminar will focus on tactile and auditory sensing and evaluation technologies. Leading researchers will clearly explain the development of actuators and sensors using soft materials, their application to soft robotics, the quantification and prediction of pleasant sound, the visualization of sensibility using biometric information, and the potential of sound for well-being support.
In addition, we will introduce the initiatives of Ritsumeikan-AIST Lifecentric Design BIL (Lcede-BIL) and consider the possibilities of next-generation manufacturing and service development centered on people. This seminar is recommended for those interested in tactile and auditory sensing, sensibility evaluation, soft robotics, improving product comfort, and creating new value.
Recommended for:
- Those considering the use of flexible robot and sensor technologies for labor saving and automation in manufacturing sites
- Those who want to know the latest trends in soft robots, soft actuators, and soft sensors
- Those interested in developing robots that cooperate with humans and human-friendly devices
- Those who want to leverage sensory values related to touch, such as 'feel,' 'usability,' and 'operability,' in product development
- Those who want to evaluate and design the 'pleasantness' of product sounds, operational sounds, and environmental sounds
- Those interested in the quantification and prediction of auditory sensibility, and sensibility evaluation using biometric information
- Those who want to know the potential of sound and sensibility technologies that contribute to well-being and health support
- Those who want to utilize the quantification of sensibility in quality evaluation, product planning, research and development, and new business development
- Those who aim to add high value to products and services based on user experience
