In developing countries, access to safe drinking water remains a significant challenge, and there is a strong demand for simple, sustainable purification technologies that are easy to maintain locally. This webinar will focus on photocatalytic drinking water purification technology, exploring AIST's past initiatives in waterborne bacteria treatment, as well as the challenges and opportunities for real-world implementation.
We will also introduce ceramic-based photocatalysts designed for underwater use, system designs aiming for maintenance-free operation, and practical issues observed in real-world environments—such as groundwater composition and scale deposition.
Furthermore, we will discuss the performance requirements and operational challenges identified through fieldwork in developing countries, and explore the essential perspectives needed to develop technologies that truly function in local settings. We welcome participation from those interested in creating new overseas business ventures, solving social issues through pilot projects, and exploring collaborative opportunities to address drinking water challenges in developing countries with technological solutions.
Who Should Attend:
- Professionals at general or specialized trading companies exploring water, sanitation, environmental infrastructure, or social-impact business in emerging markets
- Staff in overseas infrastructure, environmental, or water-related departments seeking technological seeds for local pilot tests, PoCs, or joint research
- Individuals leveraging networks with local governments, municipalities, NGOs, distributors, or local subsidiaries who are interested in establishing demonstration sites for water purification technologies
- Manufacturers of water treatment systems, pumps, or water purifiers seeking low-operational-cost, chemical-free water treatment technologies
- Those exploring emerging-market business models that balance social impact with commercial viability, beyond short-term product sales
