This webinar series 1 focuses on the "Environmental Monitoring Technology WG," one of the four working groups of the Sensing Technology and Next-Generation Packaging Consortium (SenTePack Consortium) established by AIST in FY2025, and introduces initiatives from grasping environmental issues to the application and social implementation of sensing technologies.
First, Aoki from the Environmental Innovation Research Division at AIST will introduce new developments in ecological environment assessment utilizing nucleic acid sensing technology. With rapid and simple on-site analysis technology targeting environmental DNA, we aim for a future where anyone can assess ecological environments anywhere by efficiently detecting harmful organisms, rare species, and invasive species.
Furthermore, Professor Kazuhiko Takeda from Hiroshima University will discuss the measurement of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) released into the environment and its photochemical decomposition. Through quantitative technology for PET microplastics present in oceans and the atmosphere, and research on their persistence and movement in the environment, we will consider the importance of measurement technology for environmental conservation.
We look forward to the participation of stakeholders involved in environmental management and sustainability promotion, as well as corporate representatives interested in the application of environmental monitoring technology and new business/R&D in the fields of environmental measurement and analysis equipment, sensors, IoT, and resource recycling.
Recommended for:
Environmental management and sustainability promotion staff in manufacturing industries who want to continuously grasp the impact on factory wastewater and surrounding soil environments.
New business and R&D staff at analytical instrument manufacturers who are exploring next-generation environmental measurement themes such as environmental DNA and remote sensing, in addition to conventional atmospheric, water quality, and soil measurements.
Risk management staff in food and fishery-related businesses who want to quickly grasp changes in aquatic environments, the occurrence of harmful organisms, the invasion of alien species, and the impact of ecosystem changes on their business.
Environmental response staff at material and chemical manufacturers who are interested in environmental leakage of PET and polyester materials, and microplastic issues.
