Independent watchmaker and inventor Konstantin Chaykin announces the new limited edition model 'ThinKing Mystery', based on the in-house ultra-thin watch 'ThinKing', which features a case thickness of just 1.65mm introduced in 2024.
Born from the research results on structure, process, and reproducibility in ultra-thin watchmaking, this piece inherits the iconic 'Joker' design that symbolizes Konstantin Chaykin, while employing a special 'mystery display' using a transparent disk.
Ultra-Thin Watchmaking That Built a 'Reproducible Process', Not Just Results The most difficult aspect of manufacturing an ultra-thin watch is that all parts and structures must function accurately within an extremely small size.
The thinner the watch gets, the narrower the gaps between parts become, pushing allowable margins of error to the absolute limit. Even slight deformations must be managed in increments of 1/1000th of a millimeter, making the meticulous sorting of individual components and delicate manual adjustments indispensable.
Therefore, manufacturing ultra-thin watches requires a highly controlled production system, including strictly defined work procedures, constantly maintained assembly conditions, and final inspections that take much more time than usual.
At the Konstantin Chaykin manufacture, based on research and proprietary technical know-how, a unique manufacturing protocol has been constructed to handle such microscopic parts with high precision.
Konstantin Chaykin states the following:
"For me, this is not mere luck. The coin didn't just land on its edge by chance; we proved that the unprecedented thinness we achieved once can be reproduced again."
