AndTech to Host Online Zoom Seminar: 'Functionalization of Difficult-to-Modify Resins Using Crystallization Intermolecular Forces and Advanced Biomaterialization Techniques' on July 21 (Tue)

AndTech (Headquarters: Kawasaki City, Kanagawa Prefecture; President: Masao Suyama, hereinafter 'AndTech'), as part of its Zoom lecture series for R&D development support, is holding a seminar titled, 'Basics and Practice of Property Control through Polymer Stretching, Orientation, and Crystallization - Process Optimization to Enhance the Strength and Optical Properties of Films and Fibers.'

General-purpose plastics such as PE, PP, and PET have low surface reactivity and are difficult to functionalize, which has limited their applications in fields like biomaterials. This course introduces new findings showing that polymers with long alkane chains interact strongly with these difficult-to-modify resins through crystallization intermolecular forces. It also covers advanced surface modification technology using 'side-chain crystalline block copolymers' utilizing this force, as well as methods to evolve plastics into bio-based materials.
