【Lecture Objectives】
Perovskite solar cells are rapidly advancing as next-generation solar cells that achieve both high efficiency and low cost. However, their inability to fully utilize near-infrared light—which accounts for about half of solar energy—remains a bottleneck for performance improvement.
This lecture will explain upconversion (UC) materials, a promising optical wavelength conversion technology to address this issue, covering from fundamentals to the latest research.
In particular, it will introduce the latest trends and future outlook for enhancing the efficiency of next-generation solar cells, including hybrid material design combining rare-earth ions, organic molecules, and perovskites; implementation techniques via transparent film integration; and ultraviolet light management using quantum cutting.
