Anesis Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Kumamoto City, Higashi Ward, Nagamine Minami; Representative: Tatsuya Kato), in joint organization with YUMEWAC Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Kumamoto City, Kita Ward, Ueki; Representative: Takashi Sonokawa), will hold the "A Small School to Learn About 'Body' and 'Space' @ Kumamoto" workshop, designed to shape learning, starting July 10, 2026 (Fri). This is an active learning-style workshop that will be held over six sessions, with each session focusing on a different theme from the perspectives of "medicine," "welfare," and "architecture." Participants will learn and then apply their knowledge by actively engaging in hands-on activities.
Background of the Event
Japan is currently transitioning into an era of severe aging population and declining birthrate. With the advancement of aging, a dramatic increase in hospitalized patients and individuals requiring light care is predicted. As Japan's average age continues to rise, the importance of "medical care and welfare" in living environments is increasing more than ever. However, in current practice, while medical and welfare professionals may notice the characteristics of patients' bodies and lifestyles, a lack of knowledge about buildings (hardware) leads to issues such as significant renovation costs incurred later. Conversely, even for architectural professionals who are experts in drawing blueprints, it is not easy to design with consideration for the possibility that medical or welfare needs may suddenly arise in the future (changes or risks in the body). Therefore, we believe it is crucial for professionals in medicine, welfare, and architecture to learn and exchange opinions in a relationship where they can see and understand each other. We decided to hold this workshop with the belief that it will not only lead to the provision of better living environments for patients (clients) but also offer significant benefits to those involved by providing new perspectives.
Workshop Overview
【What You Will Learn】
Although "medicine," "welfare," and "architecture" may seem like different fields, they share a common "foundation." This foundation is the "body" and "space." With these two perspectives as the main themes, participants can expect to expand their expertise and gain new knowledge through six topics.
【About the "Small School"】
This workshop is not just about passive input through lectures. It incorporates two key features to ensure participants can effectively output what they learn.
1 A Workshop to "Shape" Learning, Not Just "Learn"
This is not a seminar where you just sit and listen. Based on what you understand intellectually, you will work with your team to bring your ideas to life.
2 Interesting Because Participants are from "Different Industries," with Teams of 3-4 People
Activities will be conducted in small teams composed of individuals from various fields, such as medical professionals, welfare specialists, and architects. This setup is expected to generate a continuous stream of new perspectives and ideas that you wouldn't have otherwise.
【120 Minutes Per Session: A Process in 3 Steps】
〇STEP 1: Listen (30 minutes): Learn theories and new perspectives related to the theme from expert instructors in each field. 〇STEP 2: Act (60 minutes): Apply what you have learned by actively engaging in hands-on activities to shape your ideas. 〇STEP 3: Discuss (30 minutes): Each team presents their creations, followed by overall feedback.

Scenes from the Trial Workshop
Prior to the official launch, a "trial workshop" was held on June 19 (Fri) at the Kumamoto Museum of Contemporary Art (Conference Training Room). A total of 11 participants, engaged in the medical, welfare, and architecture fields, attended. An explanation of the background for the main course, launching on July 10 (Fri), was given, followed by a mini-workshop. In the mini-workshop, themed "My Scenery," participants viewed an assigned photograph and shared "noteworthy points" and "observations" within their teams. They experienced firsthand the differences in perception based on industry and the gaps in perspectives with others, deepening their understanding of each other's expertise.
