Kashima Antlers is pleased to announce its participation in the "Clothing Reuse & Recycle Club Battle" (Fuku no Raku Deco Katsudo), a collaborative initiative between the Ministry of the Environment and the Japan Professional Football League (J.League).
This project involves six J.League clubs (Kashima Antlers, Mito HollyHock, Yokohama F. Marinos, Gamba Osaka, Avispa Fukuoka, and Vegalta Sendai) competing in a club-versus-club event to collect the most clothing per visitor over two home games. Fans and supporters are encouraged to bring unwanted clothes from home to the stadium, contributing to clothing reuse and recycling, thereby promoting resource circulation and decarbonization.
The target matches are the 2026/27 Meiji Yasuda J1 League Round 10 match against V-Varen Nagasaki on Saturday, October 17, and Round 15 against Shimizu S-Pulse on Friday, November 20. On match days, a lottery will be held for those who cooperate with clothing collection, offering prizes such as autographed player goods. We sincerely look forward to the warm cooperation and participation of our fans and supporters.
In Japan, approximately 500,000 tons of clothing are incinerated or landfilled as waste each year (source: Ministry of the Environment, "FY2025 Survey on Promotion Measures for Circular Fashion" report). To reduce CO2 emissions, it is crucial for each individual to engage in the 3Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) of clothing.
In recent years, the intensification of heavy rain and typhoons has led to match postponements and cancellations, while rising summer temperatures have impacted the competitive environment. Climate change countermeasures have become an important issue to preserve a future where soccer can be enjoyed.
Kashima Antlers has previously implemented various activities, such as a park-and-ride system using a special train from Kamisu Station to alleviate traffic congestion and reduce CO2 emissions, working with local communities to promote climate change measures and resource circulation. This project is part of those ongoing efforts.
We encourage everyone to come to the stadium, cheer for the Antlers, and cooperate with this action.
