TCB Tokyo Central Aesthetic Surgery Donates to Youth Study Abroad Support Fund 'Hokkaido Mirai Challenge Fund,' Receiving Certificate of Appreciation from Hokkaido Governor Naomichi Suzuki

Medical Corporation Frontier, which operates TCB Tokyo Central Aesthetic Surgery (Chairman: Hiroo Teranishi; hereinafter 'TCB') with 101 clinics across Japan (as of June 2026), is pleased to announce that it has made a donation to the 'Hokkaido Mirai Challenge Fund' to support the global challenges of youth who will carry Hokkaido's future. On June 15, 2026 (Monday), a certificate of appreciation was presented by Hokkaido Governor Naomichi Suzuki at the Hokkaido Government Office.

Background of the Donation

TCB Tokyo Central Aesthetic Surgery upholds a corporate culture that values challenge and endeavor, striving collectively as one organization toward innovation and sustainable growth.

This donation was prompted by Dr. Hideki Nakazono of TCB successfully summiting Mount Everest in May of the previous year, becoming the first Japanese aesthetic surgeon to do so. The roots of this remarkable achievement trace back to Asahidake, Hokkaido's highest peak. Having spent his elementary through high school years in Sapporo, Dr. Nakazono climbed Asahidake at age 17 during a school excursion. The profound sense of accomplishment and exhilaration he felt at that moment became the catalyst for his determination to conquer Mount Everest, the world's highest peak.

Motivated by Dr. Nakazono's heartfelt desire to 'give back to Hokkaido, the origin of my challenging spirit and a place dear to my heart' and to 'support the global challenges of young people,' TCB as an organization wholeheartedly agreed and supported this donation initiative.

On the occasion of the donation, TCB also presented a commemorative gift: an origami crane mosaic art piece titled 'Asahidake.'

Created by staff members of the TCB Group in preparation for the presentation ceremony, this artwork embodies the wish for Hokkaido's youth to pursue ambitious goals.

During the subsequent informal discussion, Dr. Nakazono shared his experiences of summiting Mount Everest and completing the Sahara Desert Marathon, known as one of the world's most grueling races. He explained the motivation behind the donation: 'When I've faced challenges, I've always prioritized whether I truly wanted to do it over whether I could do it. I feel fortunate to have been supported by my birth environment, my schools, and my current workplace. I wanted to help young people who wish to challenge themselves but lack the necessary support, and with the cooperation of Chairman Teranishi, we were able to make this donation.'

Chairman Teranishi, who retained Dr. Nakazono when he considered resigning to pursue his Everest challenge and established a support system allowing him to challenge while remaining employed, expressed his hopes for the next generation: 'Through this donation, I hope that young people in Hokkaido will be inspired to take on challenges, even if only a little.'

Governor Naomichi Suzuki offered his remarks: 'If the 'Hokkaido Mirai Challenge Fund' had existed back then, Dr. Nakazono might have used it for his Sahara Desert Marathon challenge. In that case, he might still be working in Hokkaido today (laughs). This year, the ninth round, will support up to 29 individuals, with results to be announced by the end of June. I believe it would be inspiring for future children to hear about the insights and perspectives Dr. Nakazono has gained from his experiences. If they understand that there are people who will support them when they take that first step, I believe more young people will find the courage to make that decision and move forward.' The event concluded with a firm handshake.

A mosaic artwork depicting Asahidake, Hokkaido's highest peak, which was the starting point for Dr. Hideki Nakazono's Mount Everest challenge, created using approximately 10,000 origami cranes.

Created by staff of the TCB Group, this piece expresses the wish for Hokkaido's youth to pursue lofty goals.

It is scheduled to be displayed in meeting rooms within the government building.

Hokkaido Mirai Challenge Fund

To cultivate human resources who will carry Hokkaido's future, the Hokkaido government supports young people's challenges to improve their knowledge and skills overseas—such as university students studying abroad, or those aspiring to become sports coaches, artists, or artisans—through the public-private partnership 'Hokkaido Mirai Challenge Fund.'

・Requirements: Young individuals who wish to contribute to Hokkaido and are challenging themselves to improve their personal qualities overseas

・Grant Details: Travel expenses up to 300,000 JPY (fixed), living expenses up to 160,000 JPY/month (fixed), study/training fees up to 300,000 JPY ※No repayment required
