ARC'TERYX
Arc'teryx was founded in 1989 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Just about an hour by car from the city lies the rugged mountain range known as the Coast Mountains along the Pacific coast. In this city where outdoor activities are seamlessly integrated into daily life, Arc'teryx began as a garage brand called “Rock Solid,” manufacturing and selling climbing gear. In 1991, the company launched the “Vapor Harness,” utilizing thermoformed 3D foam, and simultaneously changed its name to ARC'TERYX (Arc'teryx), inspired by Archaeopteryx—the creature believed to be the first bird to fly in evolutionary history. Guided by the philosophy of “designing from scratch,” and drawing on the technical expertise and experience gained in the rich yet demanding environment of the Coast Mountains, Arc'teryx continues to innovate beyond industry norms, crafting the highest-quality performance products that lead the evolution of outdoor gear.
