The Chain Museum Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Masamichi Toyama; hereinafter 'The Chain Museum') will begin ticket sales on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at 10:00 AM on its art communication platform 'ArtSticker' in conjunction with the public proof-of-concept experiment for contemporary artist Tatsuo Miyajima's 'Sea of Time – TOHOKU' project, 'Sea of Time – TOHOKU'.

This exhibition will open to the public the final verification process for the permanent installation of the artwork at the 'Sea of Time Tohoku Museum,' scheduled to open in Tomioka Town, Fukushima Prefecture in 2029. It will be held over four days—Saturday, July 4; Sunday, July 5; Saturday, July 11; and Sunday, July 12—at the Nihonbashi Mitsui Hall in Tokyo. This is a rare opportunity to experience the overwhelming light art space, which is closest to the actual exhibition, ahead of time.

What is the 'Sea of Time – TOHOKU' Project? This is an art project initiated by contemporary artist Tatsuo Miyajima in the wake of the Great East Japan Earthquake. It aims to commemorate the victims of the disaster, pass on the memory of the earthquake, and co-create the future together with people who have feelings for the Tohoku region. Each of the 3,000 participants sets a time on an LED counter gadget that counts down from '9 to 1,' symbolizing the eternity of life. The artwork 'Sea of Time - TOHOKU' is formed by the accumulation of these 'times' and 'feelings.' The completed work will be permanently installed at the 'Sea of Time Tohoku Museum,' shining as a sea of light that connects people's memories and prayers to the future.

In this proof-of-concept experiment, under conditions close to the future museum environment, the project will verify critical processes directly linked to the completion of the artwork and the museum's architecture, such as 'the balance of LED light density and space,' 'the impact of external light on artwork viewing,' and 'viewing flow and safety in dark environments.' It aims to provide an opportunity to learn the latest information on the artwork's production and the museum's architectural design, as well as a chance to become a financial supporter (Support Artist) of the project.

Furthermore, all admission fees from visitors to this exhibition will be used entirely for the preparation of the 'Sea of Time Tohoku Museum.' By participating in this exhibition, you can be involved in the establishment of the museum.
