Sapporo Hitsujigaoka Observation Deck will hold a 'Golden Week Event' from Wednesday, April 29 to Sunday, May 10. We have prepared various programs for the whole family to enjoy, including demonstrations of sheep shearing—a spring tradition at Hitsujigaoka—kite flying and kite-making experiences, and the 'Sheep Strolling Race.'

Furthermore, from Sunday, May 3 to Wednesday, May 6, admission for elementary school students will be free. This spring, five new sheep have joined us. Please enjoy the sight of these adorable sheep peacefully grazing in our vast pasture. We look forward to your visit.

Sheep Shearing Demonstration Dates: April 29 – May 3 Time: 1st session 11:00 AM, 2nd session 1:30 PM Fee: Free Once a year, sheep 'change clothes' for summer by removing their heavy wool coats. Eight 1-year-old sheep that joined us last year will experience their first shearing.

2. Kite Flying and Kite-Making Experience Dates: May 3 – May 6 Time: 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM Fee: Flying experience is free. Mini-kite kits are available for 700 JPY from the Sapporo Kite Association. A traditional spring event at Hitsujigaoka. To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Clark Statue, a special Dr. Clark themed kite will appear.

3. Sheep Strolling Race Dates: May 7 – May 10 Time: 1:30 PM (Reception starts at 12:30 PM) Fee: Free A total of 14 sheep, including 5 new members from this spring, will compete in their first race. Prizes will be given to those who predict the winner!

4. Visit from 'Jingisukan no Jin-kun' Date: May 1 (Fri) Time: 10:30 AM, 12:00 PM Fee: Free The popular character and official Sapporo Smile PR Ambassador will visit his hometown, Hitsujigaoka, to celebrate the statue's 50th anniversary.

5. Soap-making Workshop Dates: April 29 – May 2 Fee: 1,000 – 1,300 JPY Create adorable original soaps like decorative ice candy.

6. Sheep & Carnation Memo Stand Parfait Dates: April 30, May 1, May 8, May 10 Fee: 1,200 JPY Make a cute sheep memo stand using fluffy clay.

7. Tile Craft Workshop Date: May 3 Fee: 800 – 2,500 JPY Combine various tiles to create original coasters or trays.

8. Candle & Soap-making Dates: May 4, 5, 9, 10 Fee: 800 – 2,900 JPY Create one-of-a-kind original items for kids and adults alike.
