▼ Overview

Nobuaki Kawaguchi, Executive Chief Scientist at Astamuse, has authored 'Japan Restart: Japan’s Winning Edge and Strategic Indispensability—Designing Survival Strategies for the Technology Hegemony Era Through Data-Driven Insights.' Since its release in June 2026, the book has ranked #1 in five Amazon categories (※) and has received significant attention from executives and R&D and new business departments both in Japan and abroad. This webinar will be a special lecture in which the author thoroughly explains the book’s central concepts.

As industries transition toward 'deep tech hegemony,' where industrial competitiveness and national security are intertwined—driven by AI, quantum, biotechnology, and next-generation energy—Japanese companies are now expected to establish a 'chokepoint' position in global supply chains: a role so critical that the world cannot function without Japan. In this book, the author overlays geopolitical risk with innovation data from over 193 countries and more than 100 million records (including patents, academic papers, grants, and startup investments) to scientifically and logically determine the precise strategic path forward for Japanese enterprises.

During the webinar, the author will highlight key insights from all 10 chapters. He will present a counterintuitive perspective: Japan’s strengths shine brightest in the realm of 'Physical AI,' where real-world data, equipment, and materials converge. He will also discuss energy and materials strategy for the 'Watt × Bit' era—where AI computing power ultimately depends on electricity—and explore the 'geoeconomics of logistics, oceans, and supply chains' in light of the simultaneous instability of three major chokepoints. From AI and quantum to space, oceans, and economic security, the entire industrial landscape will be interpreted as a unified map. The key shift is from 'improvement'—refining within existing rules—to 'creation'—rewriting the fundamental premises. This one-hour session will deliver a condensed blueprint for how Japanese companies can become indispensable players on the global stage.

(※ Based on rankings from June 12–13 and June 22–23, 2026. Ranked #1 in Kindle eBooks: 'Overall Free Titles,' 'Economic Thought and Theories,' 'Consulting,' 'Management Systems and Planning,' and in print books: 'Contemporary Economics (New Releases).')
