ATOMica (HQ: Miyazaki City; Co-CEOs: Mizuki Shimada, Kazuki Minamihara) and Daigasgroup (Osaka Gas Co., Ltd.) have jointly introduced the inquiry-based learning program 'Socialium' at Meisei High School (Osaka Meisei Gakuen). The program targets 195 first-year students across 5 classes, with ATOMica staff serving as mentors throughout. Socialium is a special program under ATOMica's 'COYAGE Discovery' initiative for middle and high school students, developed in collaboration with Daigasgroup. It uses a workshop format focusing on carbon neutrality and environmental issues, guiding students to discover real-world problems and devise solutions. On May 25, 2026, the 4th and 5th sessions featured SPACECOOL, a zero-energy radiative cooling material developed by Osaka Gas and commercialized by SPACECOOL Inc. that can lower ambient temperature by approx. 2-6°C without any energy use. Daigasgroup's Matsui (Kansai Business Information, Solution Business Div.) delivered a lecture on SPACECOOL's development background and real-world adoption, including its use at the Japan Gas Association pavilion at the Osaka-Kansai Expo. Students also conducted a hands-on light irradiation experiment in the classroom to experience the cooling performance firsthand. Going forward, students will conduct on-campus temperature measurement experiments using SPACECOOL film, then develop new application ideas and present their business plans at an external showcase.
