Authense Law Firm (Minato-ku, Tokyo) is a firm whose brand slogan is "Focus on Emotions." We are dedicated to resolving issues by not only providing legal solutions but also by empathizing with people's feelings.

As a law firm that wishes to be close to the feelings of those working in legal departments, Authense Law Firm is pleased to announce the second installment of its webinar series, "What's Compliance."

In this second session, Mari Takahashi, a former prosecutor who has handled numerous corporate scandals and internal investigations, and Daisuke Masuda, a lawyer with extensive experience in dealing with anti-social forces and handling corporate scandals, will explain the key points of the revised law and the practical aspects of operating a whistleblower system from a ground-level perspective.

Blind Spots and Revised Law Compliance in Whistleblower Systems from the Frontlines of Scandal Investigations

The revised Act on Protection of Whistleblowers, which will come into effect on December 1, 2026, includes amendments that will directly impact the operation of corporate whistleblower systems, such as the introduction of criminal penalties for unfavorable treatment of whistleblowers and revisions to the obligations for establishing systems.

On the other hand, many companies still face challenges such as "the reporting desk is set up, but it is hardly used" or "reports are only handled formally and do not lead to improvements on the ground."

In this webinar, Mari Takahashi, a former prosecutor who has handled numerous corporate scandals and internal investigations, and Daisuke Masuda, a lawyer with extensive experience in dealing with anti-social forces and handling corporate scandals, will explain the key points of the revised law and the practical aspects of operating a whistleblower system from a ground-level perspective.

Furthermore, we will analyze the structural issues and factors that hinder reporting common to "organizations where the reporting desk exists but is not used," and discuss concrete perspectives and directions for improvement regarding the practical concerns that reporting desk staff face on a daily basis.

With less than six months until the enforcement, we encourage those who are working on compliance with the revised law and reviewing their whistleblower systems to participate in this opportunity.
