Flores, Indonesia (June 29, 2026) — AYANA Komodo Waecicu Beach will launch Kisik Seafood & Grill: Living the Heritage, a weekly beachfront cultural dining experience celebrating the traditions of Flores and eastern Nusa Tenggara. Held every Friday and Sunday, this immersive event unfolds against the backdrop of a breathtaking sunset over Waecicu Beach, combining a seafood barbecue with live music, traditional dance performances, and storytelling to deliver a deeply enriching cultural experience.

Living the Heritage transforms Kisik into a stage for culture. Guests are welcomed with a ceremonial sunset procession inspired by the Manggarai traditions, embarking on a sensory journey that weaves together the island’s rich seafood and culinary heritage with generations-old music, dance, and oral storytelling.

While Labuan Bajo is widely recognized as the gateway to Komodo National Park, its cultural richness remains underappreciated. Opportunities to experience Manggarai performances in an integrated and accessible format are still limited, often requiring coordination through local communities or tour operators. Living the Heritage brings these traditions together in one place, offering a unique opportunity to explore the profound cultural depth of the region.

The program presents a curated sequence of traditional Manggarai performances, each reflecting different aspects of cultural heritage and community. The evening begins with "Tiba Meka," a ritualistic welcome dance rooted in ancestral customs, embodying respect and hospitality. This is followed by "Caci," a dynamic ceremonial duel where performers, wielding whips and shields, demonstrate strength and agility to the powerful rhythms of gongs and drums.

Next comes "Rangka Al," an energetic bamboo dance that showcases precision, coordination, and group rhythm. Guests are invited to participate in parts of this performance, allowing for a more intimate connection with the tradition. Throughout the evening, the soft melodies of the sasando, a traditional string instrument originating from Rote Island, play continuously, adding a layer of enchantment and cultural depth to the ambiance.

The culinary experience highlights the coastal bounty of Flores, enhanced by the rustic charm of charcoal grilling. The set menu begins with a fragrant lemongrass seafood soup, followed by fresh seafood grilled over charcoal with traditional spices.

Guests can choose from premium options such as a mixed platter of fish, squid, shellfish, and prawns, or an indulgent seafood platter featuring lobster. For dessert, a fusion of traditional and contemporary flavors is offered, ranging from the classic Pisang Goreng (fried banana) to a modern Moringa financier served with raspberry mousse and lemon curd. The set menu is available from IDR 800,000++ (approximately ¥7,200++) per person.

Living the Heritage embodies AYANA Komodo’s enduring commitment to responsible tourism, community engagement, cultural preservation, and delivering authentic, place-based guest experiences. Through partnerships with local performers and artisans, the program not only provides a platform for cultural expression but also contributes to improving livelihoods within the community.

By uniting cuisine, performance, and the grandeur of nature, Kisik Seafood & Grill introduces a new dimension of Komodo’s appeal. More than just stunning natural landscapes, it offers an exclusive experience that brings guests face-to-face with the living beauty and depth of this heritage-rich region.
