Broadmind Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Kiyoshi Ito; Securities Code: 7343; hereinafter: "the Company"), which develops and provides financial services to support the realization of life plans under the purpose of "Unleashing the Power of Finance," held a company information session and discussion forum for second-year university students on June 9, 2026 (Tue) in a class at the Faculty of Policy Studies, Chiba University of Commerce, with a recruiter as a speaker.
Background of Implementation
The Company is a group of Financial Planners (FPs) primarily composed of new graduates and inexperienced hires. We continue to recruit with an emphasis on "an attitude of facing people's lives" rather than specialized financial knowledge, and have produced professional consultants through systematic training by the Education Department after joining the company. When hiring inexperienced individuals, we uphold "no mismatch" as one of our important policies, and actively create opportunities to provide realistic information about "what it means to work" and "the reality of the FP profession" by engaging with students early on, not just in the selection process but also when they begin to seriously consider job hunting.
This class is part of a 13-session course led by Professor Yoshiha of the Faculty of Policy Studies at Chiba University of Commerce and the NPO "Branding Port," which supports students' career autonomy. The course aims to deepen students' understanding of their "personal brand (their strengths and values)" and "broaden their career options" through dialogue with working professionals. The Company was responsible for the 7th session, conducting a company information session and discussion forum on the theme of "Enhancing the Resolution of Working through Dialogue with Working Professionals."
Implementation Overview
Date of Implementation: June 9, 2026 (Tue)
Target Audience: 29 second-year students from the Faculty of Policy Studies, Chiba University of Commerce
Content: Company Information Session and Discussion Forum
In the company information session, we introduced Broadmind's business activities (financial consulting, primarily the FP consultation service "ManePro"), the reality of the FP profession, and the characteristics of new graduate recruitment. In the discussion forum, many students, facing job hunting, asked frank questions such as "I don't know what criteria to use to choose a company for job hunting" and "I can't find what I want to do."
In response to the question "I can't find what I want to do," Noma replied, "You don't need to look for a job solely from the perspective of 'what you want to do.' Rather, what you are good at, or what you consider normal, might be evaluated by others. I want you to try focusing on that." While conveying the importance of speaking in one's own words, he shared perspectives that could serve as a catalyst for students to deepen their self-understanding.
Furthermore, in response to the question "How can I know if I'm suited for sales/the finance industry?", he answered, "In many cases, you won't know if you're suited for something until you try it. However, whether or not you find talking to people bothersome can be one indicator." He also stated that one's everyday feelings can be a hint. From his experience as an FP consulting over 100 households annually, he also said, "Actually, listening to clients' stories is a much more important part of the job than talking." Even students who felt distant from the finance industry or sales roles showed interest.
Speaker Profile
Shinji Noma, Recruitment Manager, Human Resources Department
Joined Broadmind as a new graduate in 2016. As a Financial Planner (FP), he consulted for over 100 households annually and achieved the Rookie of the Year Award, Best Team Award, and MDRT. He transferred to the Human Resources Department in 2018 and has been involved in recruiting new graduates, mid-career hires, and part-time employees. He is currently the Head of New Graduate Recruitment, handling everything from the planning to execution of recruitment strategies. MIP Award recipient.
Noma's Comment
"I believe the finance industry and the FP profession are among the jobs that are difficult for students to imagine. Opportunities to convey realistic stories directly before job hunting becomes serious are extremely valuable.
In this discussion forum, I received frank questions from the students, and it was a time of many realizations for myself as well. I hope that by accumulating such dialogues, more students will gain an accurate image of financial work and find hints for thinking about their own careers."
Our Recruitment Policy
At Broadmind, we have prioritized qualities and work attitudes such as "Can they genuinely face people's lives?" and "Can they continue to grow long-term?" over financial knowledge. In fact, the industries that our hired employees have aspired to are diverse, including education, human resources, real estate, and consulting. While not all of them were initially aiming for the finance industry, we have achieved a high retention rate within the industry, with a new graduate turnover rate of approximately 12% (within 3 years of joining).
We believe that providing detailed information about the "reality of the job" and "company culture" from an early stage, when students begin to consider job hunting, leads to recruitment without mismatches.
