Base Food, the company behind the nutritionally complete staple food series 'BASE FOOD,' announced a full renewal of all 'BASE RAMEN' flavors (Chicken Soy Sauce and Miso), a line of nutritionally complete, non-fried instant noodles that provide 1/3 of the 33 essential nutrients needed daily in one serving (including approximately 95g of soup after preparation). The rollout will begin in early June.
A Complete Overhaul: Pursuing Deliciousness in the 'BASE RAMEN' Series.
Launched in October 2025 as the company's first nutritionally complete instant ramen with soup, the 'BASE RAMEN' series is based on whole-wheat flour and primarily natural ingredients. It aims to dispel the negative image that "cup noodles are unhealthy" by offering a "guilt-free" meal experience.
This marks the series' first major renewal, where the noodles, soup, and toppings have all been completely redesigned. While the core concept remains unchanged, the company is "pursuing deliciousness" to ensure the product can be enjoyed continuously by a wider audience.
While continuing to offer balanced nutrition based on whole-wheat flour, low calories, and controlled sodium content via non-fried noodles, this renewal significantly improves noodle smoothness and texture. It masks the characteristic taste and aroma of whole-wheat flour, allowing users to fully enjoy the pleasure of slurping ramen without resistance. Furthermore, both the Chicken Soy Sauce and Miso flavors have been updated to provide a rich, satisfying taste that avoids any blandness.
The primary focus of this renewal was flavor adjustment. Every element—the noodles, the soup, and the toppings—was refined to create a taste that is intuitively "delicious."
First, the noodles. To achieve a "guilt-free, authentically tasty ramen that anyone would want to eat daily," the company optimized the balance between noodles and soup. Through multiple prototyping cycles, they successfully minimized the unique whole-wheat taste and flavor, ensuring consistent deliciousness from the first sip to the last bite. The texture was improved to be smooth rather than coarse, allowing for a delightful slurping experience.
The soup has also been improved. The 'BASE RAMEN Chicken Soy Sauce' now features an enhanced chicken bone profile while maintaining the sharpness of the soy sauce, resulting in a deeper, richer broth. The 'BASE RAMEN Miso' has a stronger miso profile, balancing sweetness and richness for a fuller taste.
Finally, the topping composition has been changed to enhance visual and palate satisfaction. The Chicken Soy Sauce version now includes more green onions and replaces the previous corn with bamboo shoots (menma) for a more orthodox and aromatic soy ramen experience. The Miso version now features increased green onions and corn to emphasize the natural sweetness and flavor of the vegetables.
