Benesse Corporation (Headquarters: Okayama City, Okayama Prefecture; President and CEO: Daisuke Iwase; hereinafter 'Benesse') is pleased to announce that its application 'Ocurink Plus-Ready! Corporate and Organization Collaboration Content' (hereinafter 'Collaboration Content'), available within its ICT learning software 'Mirai Seed' for elementary and junior high schools, has, within one year of launch, surpassed 20 participating companies and organizations and been utilized by over 200,000 students nationwide.

This initiative represents an 'educational co-creation model' that connects inquiry-based learning—emphasized in schools—with real-world sustainability and social issue resolution efforts by companies and organizations, transforming them into classroom-ready educational materials. Available through 'Mirai Seed,' which Benesse provides to over 12,000 schools nationwide, the content is designed for seamless integration into inquiry-based lessons under the GIGA School Initiative's one-device-per-student environment. By turning socially relevant practices of familiar companies and organizations into educational content, it creates opportunities for children to feel connected to society while learning.

<Participating Companies and Organizations>

Over 20 Companies Participate in First Year; Over 200,000 Students Engaged

Initially launched with 11 participating companies and organizations, the program has nearly doubled in size over the past year, now exceeding 20 participants due to strong recognition of its educational value. Alongside this growth, the range of educational themes has expanded to include environment, disaster prevention, financial education, career education, regional revitalization, and technology. The content has now been used in classes by over 200,000 students nationwide.

Reasons for Expanding Adoption in Schools

The Collaboration Content uses real-world social issue initiatives by companies and organizations as educational themes, aligning them with grade levels, subjects, and curriculum units. In addition to the teaching materials, detailed lesson plans are provided, making it easy for teachers to incorporate them into inquiry-based lessons. Furthermore, the content is delivered via 'Mirai Seed,' an ICT learning platform used in over 12,000 elementary and junior high schools across Japan. Students use the collaborative learning app 'Ocurink Plus' to create presentations and notes, share opinions, and deepen their understanding through active learning.

Teachers appreciate the reduced preparation burden and the support the content provides for implementing inquiry-based learning—a key focus in schools—contributing to both the expansion of participating organizations and the engagement of over 200,000 students.

Comment from Yu Okabe, Deputy General Manager, Elementary and Junior High School Business Division, Benesse Corporation

This initiative began as a challenge to transform corporate and organizational activities from 'information to be conveyed' into 'learning in which children actively participate.' As an 'educational co-creation model,' we are collaborating with diverse companies and organizations to bridge their expertise and practices in solving social issues with schools' demand for inquiry-based learning.

We are delighted that, within just one year, numerous organizations have joined us, expanding opportunities for children nationwide to learn while feeling connected to society. Moving forward, we will continue to expand this co-creation model between companies and schools, creating more opportunities for children to view social issues as their own and develop the ability to shape the future.
