Bijuu Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture, President & CEO: Hiroaki Sakai) and JR West Japan Daily Service Net Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Amagasaki City, Hyogo Prefecture, President: Yoshito Fujiwara) will launch "Chobomaru," jointly developed by the two companies, on July 8, 2026 (Wed).

"Chobomaru" is a matcha-flavored financier developed to coincide with the opening of the new "Omiyage Kaido Kyokonoki Store" at JR Kyoto Station on the same day. Targeting women in their 30s and 40s, tourists, and matcha lovers, this new Kyoto souvenir combines an authentic taste using Kyoto's Uji matcha with a design that evokes Kyoto.

Product Features and Development Commitment

1. "Moist Matcha Dough" and "Rich Matcha Glaze" Using Uji Matcha

A moist financier dough, with the rich aroma of Uji matcha spreading the moment you open the bag, is topped with a special matcha glaze. Pursuing the essence of Kyoto, Uji matcha is used in both the financier dough and the glaze.

2. A Gentle and Mellow Taste Woven by Japanese Ingredients

As a Kyoto confection, we focused on combining Japanese ingredients.

White bean paste: By adding white bean paste to the matcha glaze, the characteristic bitterness of matcha is balanced with moderate sweetness, achieving a mellow taste.

Domestic rice malt syrup: Used in the financier dough. It adds a gentle sweetness, depth of flavor, and natural richness, bringing it closer to a Japanese taste.

Product Concept and Design Commitment

The product concept is "A bite-sized treat, even for a geiko's small mouth." The small, round shape is expressed through a world inspired by geiko (Kyoto geisha).

1. Packaging Featuring Roundness and Waves

The packaging, including the design, illustrations, and fonts, all feature rounded shapes to express the product's adorable form. The lid uses a color inspired by the white bean paste added to the matcha glaze, and the sides feature a design where the rich matcha glaze appears to form waves.

2. Warm and "Relaxed" Geiko Illustrations

Geiko wearing kimono inspired by matcha are designed on the packaging and individual wrapping film. The expressions and kimono patterns are not overly detailed, finished with a warm, woodblock print-like touch.

3. Individual Packaging with "Kyoto Dialect" to Foster Communication

Along with geiko illustrations, six types of Kyoto dialect words such as "Ooki ni" (Thank you), "Oishiosu" (It's delicious), and "Okibariyasu" (Good luck) are written on the individual wrapping film. The soft expressions unique to hiragana are incorporated as a mechanism to naturally spark conversation when distributing souvenirs in places like the workplace. We deliver a heartwarming Kyoto experience.
