Bluefield Energy Inc. (Location: Minato-ku, Tokyo, Representative Director: Takafumi Shimada, hereinafter "Bluefield Energy"), which aims to reform structural inefficiencies in decentralized energy generation and retail through technology, announces that it has started providing operational support and aggregation services for solar power plants. This includes support for transitioning from the FIT system to the FIP system, targeting agrivoltaic power plants owned and operated by Senko Corporation (Headquarters: Yokkaichi City, Mie Prefecture, hereinafter "Senko Corporation") in Ibaraki and Gunma prefectures.

Background of Service Provision

To achieve the 2030 energy mix, further expansion of renewable energy (hereinafter "renewables") is required. Meanwhile, stabilizing revenue and maximizing the value of renewables have become increasingly important management issues for power generators due to increased output curtailments and fluctuations in power market prices. Under these circumstances, transitioning from the FIT system to the FIP system (*1) is gaining attention as an option to expand revenue opportunities for solar power plants and utilize renewables over the long term. However, after the FIP transition, new practical operations arise that were not present in traditional FIT operations, such as managing planned and actual power generation volumes, handling imbalance, market trading, and various settlements.

Therefore, in the operation of solar power plants utilizing the FIP system, the importance of specialized services that integrate regulatory compliance with daily operational support is increasing. Particularly in complex projects like agrivoltaics, specialized responses in both system understanding and practical operation are crucial.

*1 FIP (Feed-in Premium) System: A system aimed at market integration of renewables, supporting renewable power sources by adding a certain premium to the market price. Introduced in Japan in April 2022. (Source: Agency for Natural Resources and Energy "Explanation of the FIP System" https://www.enecho.meti.go.jp/category/saving_and_new/saiene/fit_fip/fip.html)

Overview of This Implementation

This service targets the agrivoltaic power plants owned and operated by Senko Corporation in Ibaraki and Gunma prefectures. It provides end-to-end support for various procedures related to the transition from FIT to FIP, as well as post-transition power generation planning, market trading, imbalance handling, and various settlements.

By supporting the regulatory responses necessary for the FIP transition and the subsequent daily operational practices, Bluefield Energy will help reduce the operational burden on Senko Corporation and support the continuous operation of its solar power plants.
