Nao Omura (Professional Surfer)

Date of Birth: November 27, 1992

Hometown: Fujisawa City, Kanagawa Prefecture

In 2006, at age 13, became the youngest Japanese national team member at the time, and remained on the national team for 12 consecutive years until 2017. In 2010, at age 17, earned professional certification in Japan, winning both the annual Grand Champion title and Rookie of the Year award. Has been competing in the global surfing tour for nearly 15 years since graduating high school.

While continuing her athletic career, she actively contributes to next-generation development as a vice president of the federation and as a coach.

Haruna Matsumoto (Professional Snowboarder)

Date of Birth: July 26, 1993

Hometown: Sapporo City, Hokkaido

2018 PyeongChang Olympic Games participant

President, Hokkaido Snow Sports Promotion Council (NPO)

Started snowboarding in 2nd grade and began halfpipe competitions in 4th grade, competing in domestic events from that year.

Participated in the World Cup from 2010, with 2nd place as her best result.

Achieved 2nd place at the 2017 World Championships.

Finished 6th at the 2018 PyeongChang Olympics. Later placed 2nd at the BURTON US OPEN—the first Japanese woman on the podium—and earned 3rd place at X GAMES for three consecutive years.

Founded the Hokkaido Snow Sports Promotion Council (NPO) in 2022,

and has been actively promoting snow sports and athlete development. Retired from competition in 2023.

Currently conducts snowboarding experience events in Hokkaido and gives lectures at elementary schools in Sapporo to share her athletic journey, the importance of pursuing dreams, and the value of sports.
