BOOKOFF Corporation, a subsidiary of BOOKOFF Group Holdings Co., Ltd. that operates reuse shops such as 'BOOKOFF', will sign a 'Comprehensive Partnership Agreement' with Akita Prefecture on June 3, 2026, with the aim of contributing to the promotion of a sustainable and vibrant community. Through the donation of books, providing opportunities to learn about a circular society, and participating in events held within the prefecture, the company will create reading opportunities and provide educational support for local children. In addition, by installing collection boxes for unwanted items at facilities such as the Akita Prefecture Yutori Life Creation Center (Yugakusha), the company will promote waste reduction and aim for the development of a sustainable local society. BOOKOFF has deepened its connection with the region by participating in environmental events and education/child-rearing related initiatives in Akita Prefecture. Through these activities, the company realized the local issues and needs, and recognized the necessity of more continuous and wide-ranging contributions. Therefore, they considered cooperation with the administration to be essential, leading to the conclusion of this comprehensive partnership agreement. Furthermore, BOOKOFF believes that increasing opportunities and options for active reuse creates a larger cycle. They are engaged in book donations to create reading opportunities for children and convey the importance of reuse, the development of home-delivery purchase donation services aimed at social contribution through the appraisal value of unwanted items, and educational activities aimed at learning about a circular society experientially and encouraging action. Aiming to realize a 'society that does not throw things away' and a circular society together with the region, BOOKOFF will contribute as a private company to the regional issues faced by Akita Prefecture by utilizing its reuse business.
