"Art idol new world" is the concept of the idol group "anew" (pronounced a-ni-u), which is active nationwide. They will hold the music event "CHIKAKARA ZAO 2026" for three days from July 18 (Sat) to July 20 (Mon, holiday), 2026, at "Zao Onsen Takiyama Studio" in Zao Onsen, Yamagata City, Yamagata Prefecture.

Last year, approximately 200 enthusiastic audience members from within and outside the prefecture gathered on the ski slopes in midsummer, and the event concluded with great success.

This year, it will be powered up into an even greater "weird festival."

Three Days of Genreless Culture Intersection

The event will be held over three days: the eve festival (18th), the main festival (19th), and a birthday celebration for Tsukiyo Nagi, a member of the organizing idol group "anew" (20th).

The performing artists will include over 30 acts in total, crossing genre boundaries, from idols, bands, DJs, and hip-hop to unique performers.

The organizer is "anew" (a-ni-u), based in Yamagata and Koenji, Tokyo, and active nationwide, with a highly eclectic musical style centered on the alternative. They have previously released and performed cover songs of famous songs with roots in Yamagata, such as "Debut" by internet culture legend Noriaki and "Dotei So Young" by GOING STEADY.

On the 19th, the main festival day, Noriaki himself, the original artist of the cover songs, will perform! An electrifying stage, only viewable here, will unfold on the midsummer ski slopes.

Fusion of Music and Yamagata Local Food

At the venue, in addition to music, local popular restaurants (Jingisukan Lodge, Ocha-ya, Muchos, HAVE A GOOD SLICE, Sumibiyaki Toriji-ken) will be setting up stalls, allowing visitors to experience Yamagata's culture with all five senses. A special space will be provided where you can enjoy Yamagata gourmet food along with the music.

Furthermore, to support the next generation of the culture scene, this event offers a [Student Discount (student ID required)] allowing entry to all three days of performances for only 500 yen.

anew (a-ni-u) is a five-member idol group that has been making waves globally since their debut in December 2022.

With the concept of "Art idol new world," they construct a unique idol image by combining original art with alternative music.

They successfully completed a tour in Taiwan in May 2023 and have released music at an overwhelming pace, including their debut mini-album <Sekai wo Somete Iku>, the singles <Ichi Jōhō Nashi / Dekiru Kana?>, and the album <Ino Jō>. In 2024, they are actively releasing four consecutive singles.

As of 2026, they are in their current formation, constantly challenging themselves with new forms of expression, focusing on artwork created in collaboration with various creators, and are a creative idol group moving forward together as a team.
