Early Bird Tickets for "A Gaze of Miracles: The Adventure of Japanese Women Photographers" on Sale from May 27 - A Large-Scale Exhibition by 30 Female Photographers

An exhibition that shines a light on Japanese women photographers, who have played a crucial role in the world of expression from the 1950s to today, is finally landing in Japan after a highly acclaimed run in Europe. Four new artists will join the roster from the world tour, bringing the total to 30 artists and approximately 200 works. This summer will see the realization of an unprecedented large-scale exhibition in the history of photography, where their gazes on various themes such as memory, the body, daily life, and gender, along with their creativity-filled expressions, will be gathered in one place.

During the exhibition period, collaborative projects to further enjoy photography will also be held at various locations in Shibuya. We will provide details on each event along with ticket information. Please look forward to an exhibition this summer in Shibuya, a city swirling with all kinds of individuality, where you can encounter diverse questions.

This exhibition is an unprecedented large-scale event, featuring works by a total of 30 female photographers, with four new artists (Hisue Imai, Ai Iwane, Ayano Fujioka, Tomoko Yoneda) joining the 26 from the European and American tour. The exhibition content has also been partially changed and expanded, realizing installations that utilize the spacious area of Hikarie Hall (Ai Iwane, Hiroko Komatsu, Yuki Tawada, Yurie Nagashima). Furthermore, it includes valuable content that can only be seen here, such as audience participation works (Tomoko Sawada's "OMIAI♡" popularity poll) and video projections (Rinko Kawauchi, Mika Ninagawa).

This exhibition has finalized the overview of special tickets, including a "U-30 Discount" set at a price that makes it easier for the younger generation to visit, as well as sets with catalogs and merchandise, talk events, and related information. Furthermore, in July, collaborative projects are planned, such as an art book fair with talks and live performances, special workshops by exhibiting artists at nearby vocational schools (open to the public/pre-registration required), and exhibitions by exhibiting artists at galleries in Shibuya Ward. [Ticket Information] Early bird tickets on sale from Wednesday, May 27. Admission fees (tax included) for early bird tickets are: General ¥2,000, U-30 Discount ¥1,000, High/Middle/Elementary School Students ¥500. Regular tickets are: General ¥2,200, U-30 Discount ¥1,500, High/Middle/Elementary School Students ¥1,000. The U-30 Discount is for those 30 and under and students, with age verification required. Visitors with a disability certificate and one companion will be admitted at half price. Preschool children are free. Sales period for early bird tickets is from May 27 (Wed) to July 3 (Fri), and for regular tickets from July 4 (Sat) to August 26 (Wed). Tickets are available at Online Ticket MY Bunkamura, Asoview!, Pia, and other ticket agencies.

A commemorative talk event will be held on Saturday, July 4, featuring photographer Miyako Ishiuchi and the exhibition's curator, Mariko Takeuchi. During the exhibition, talk events are also scheduled for Sunday, July 12 with Miwa Yanagi & Mari Katayama, and Sunday, July 26 with Tokuko Ushioda & Rika Noguchi, and Rinko Kawauchi & Mariko Asabuki (novelist).

Collaborative projects to enjoy photography in Shibuya this summer will also be held. Bunkamura Gallery 8/ will host the "STILL/LIFE: In the Afterglow of Silence" exhibition from July 4 to 20. Bunkamura Le Cinéma Shibuya Miyashita will have a special related screening program in August, and MINA will hold a solo exhibition by Yurie Nagashima from July 10 to September 27.
