Bunkyo University (President Toshie Miyatake) will introduce, starting with the 2027 admissions cycle, its first-ever in-year academic examination: the Comprehensive Selection (Basic Academic Skills Test). This new examination will be implemented in the Faculty of Literature, Faculty of Information Sciences, and Faculty of Health and Nutrition.

The Comprehensive Selection (Basic Academic Skills Test) was previously announced as an admission system designed to evaluate students’ daily classroom learning and accumulated academic effort, with assessments based on document review and one or two subjects selected from foreign language, Japanese, and mathematics. However, in response to a notification from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) titled 'Guidelines for University Admissions in 2027,' the university will now include an 'interview' as part of the selection process.

Additionally, for the foreign language component, applicants may use scores from designated external English proficiency tests, which will be converted into equivalent foreign language test scores (deemed scores).
