Michael Jackson graces the cover of Weekly Bunshun (June 18 issue, on sale June 11)

Bungeishunju Co., Ltd. will release the June 11 issue of Weekly Bunshun, featuring Michael Jackson, the globally beloved 'King of Pop,' on the cover.

This is a special project prepared for the Japanese release (June 12) of the film 'Michael,' which has already been released in the United States and Europe and has achieved massive success. Book designer Chikako Suzuki illustrated the superstar, who maintains an overwhelming presence even after passing away at 50 in 2009.

'The star-like imagery in the drawing was created with the feeling of a single light—that the brilliance of one person can encourage others. I layered many meanings, such as stardom as a star and stage lighting,' said Suzuki.

On June 4, 'Weekly Bunshun CINEMA' (with an 8-page special book-in-book insert) featuring the film 'Michael' was released, and Bunshun CINEMA Online, which conveys the full appeal of Michael Jackson, has also been launched.

The highlight of 'Weekly Bunshun CINEMA' is the tribute special gravure project, 'RikuRyu Pair × Michael.' Figure skaters Riku Miura and Ryuichi Kihara, who won the gold medal at the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics and recently retired, participated in a gravure photoshoot inspired by Michael.

In conjunction with the release of 'Weekly Bunshun CINEMA,' the film 'Michael' has 'site-jacked' the Bunshun CINEMA Online page since June 4! It also features original content about Michael Jackson that cannot be read in the magazine, such as 'Behind the scenes of bringing Michael to SMAP×SMAP' by Osamu Suzuki.
