Inabe City, Mie Prefecture and ByWill Sign Partnership Agreement on Environmental Value

ByWill Inc. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Yuichiro Shimomura; hereinafter referred to as "ByWill"), which aims to create a world where GX is desirable and promotes economic circulation utilizing environmental value, has signed a partnership agreement with Inabe City, Mie Prefecture (Mayor: Yasushi Hioki; hereinafter referred to as "Inabe City") regarding environmental value.

Based on this agreement, both parties will work on the creation and circulation of environmental value, including J-Credits (*1), and the creation of new business models.

*1: The J-Credit System is a mechanism by which the Japanese government certifies greenhouse gas emission reductions achieved through the introduction of energy-saving and renewable energy equipment, and greenhouse gas absorption through appropriate forest management, as "J-Credits." Issued J-Credits can be traded with other companies, and purchasers can use them to achieve their own greenhouse gas reduction targets.

[Background of the Agreement]

On July 7, 2022 (Tuesday), Inabe City declared "Challenge Carbon Neutral Inabe," aiming for net-zero carbon dioxide emissions by 2050. To achieve this, it is actively promoting the introduction of renewable energy and striving for decarbonization. This partnership agreement has been reached to advance the creation and utilization of J-Credits in Inabe City.

[Future Outlook]

In collaboration, both parties will promote the creation and circulation of J-Credits, aiming for decarbonization in Inabe City. Regarding the method for creating J-Credits (methodology), they are considering starting with the introduction of LED equipment, and subsequently plan to expand to creation using other methodologies.

ByWill will seamlessly support Inabe City's J-Credit creation projects from registration and application to monitoring and the sale of created credits. Furthermore, regarding sales, they will promote decarbonization in Inabe City and other regions through "local production for local consumption."
