Event Overview FY2026 Spring Special Exhibition: 'Photo Exhibition: Michio Hoshino - Traveling Through Eternal Time' Dates: April 25 (Sat) – June 28 (Sun), 2026 Organizers: Onojo Kokoro no Furusato-kan, Onojo City Co-organizer: The Nishinippon Shimbun Cooperation: Michio Hoshino Office Planning Cooperation: Crevis Inc. Venue: Onojo Kokoro no Furusato-kan, 3rd Floor Exhibition Room & 2nd Floor Special Venue Hours: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (Last admission at 4:30 PM) Closed: Mondays (If Monday is a holiday, the following weekday) This exhibition traces the footsteps of photographer Michio Hoshino, who lived in the far north of Alaska. It covers his journey from his first records of an Alaskan village at age 20 to his final photographs taken on the Kamchatka Peninsula in Russia before his untimely death. The exhibition includes precious materials, such as the letter he wrote to the mayor of Shishmaref village when he was 20. Additionally, as a unique project by Onojo Kokoro no Furusato-kan, a related exhibition titled 'Continuing Michio Hoshino's Journey' will introduce materials connecting Alaska to the Japanese archipelago, as well as artifacts from the Paleolithic and Jomon periods of Onojo City. Exhibition Structure 【Main Photo Exhibition】 ■ Prologue: '1973, To Shishmaref - Encountering Alaska' Chapter 1: 'The Wonder of Life - Encounters with Animals of the Far North' Chapter 2: 'Living in Alaska - Encounters with People' Chapter 3: 'Colors of the Seasons - Encounters with Nature' Chapter 4: 'Listening to the Forest's Voice - Encounters with Mythology' Chapter 5: 'A New Journey - Seeking the Connection Between Nature and Humans' 【Related Exhibition】 ■ Epilogue: 'Continuing Michio Hoshino's Journey - Harpoons, Ravens, and Whales' Admission Fees General: 800 yen (600 yen) Junior High/High School Students: 400 yen (300 yen) Elementary School Students and under: Free ※ Prices in parentheses are for 'Tomonokai' members or groups. ※ Admission is free for individuals with a disability certificate and one accompanying caregiver. ※ May 5 (Tue/Holiday) is free for high school students and younger and their guardians in celebration of 'Children's Day'. ※ May 17 (Sun) is free in celebration of 'International Museum Day'. ※ The 2nd-floor Onojo Collection is a free zone.
